A Rezoning Application has been submitted to the City of Victoria for review and consideration of the development proposal. The plan proposes the transformation of the Roundhouse building to become a focus for a mixed-use community, providing amenities and services for the rapidly growing Songees neighbourhood, including a food market, retail shops, restaurants and cafes. Arts, culture, heritage and railways will also be part of the revitalized site through the creative reuse of rail artifacts and the development of artisian studios and galleries. The plan accomodates office uses, a suite hotel and live/work spaces to provide local employment opportunities to complement the range of urban living spaces proposed for the site. The realization of a revitalized Roundhouse is being pursued under the direction and leadership of Kenneth and Patricia Mariash, developers of the adjacent Bayview Properties.
